The mission of RRCAC is to facilitate healing and justice for victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, and exploitation and to engage the community to support and protect children. At the RRCAC we facilitate a community response to child maltreatment through a team approach to investigation, treatment, prosecution, and prevention.

The Red River Children’s Advocacy Center (RRCAC) was founded in 2004 by a group of community members and child protection system professionals who recognized the need to improve the investigation, treatment, prosecution, and incidence rates of child victims of maltreatment. They looked to the National Children's Alliance (NCA) as a respected model for an evidence-based approach that utilized a "team response" to helping children that are the victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, exposure to domestic violence, and commercial sexual exploitation. RRCAC became an independent non-profit in 2005 and an accredited member of NCA. The building, sustaining, and growth of RRCAC are made possible by our incredible team, strong community partnerships, and committed stakeholders and board.

RRCAC provides several unique and necessary services. Our services include forensic interviews, advocacy, coordination of specialized medical evaluations, and mental health services for traumatized victims and youth with problematic sexual behavior. Our services are provided to individuals referred to us because of allegations of sexual abuse, physical abuse, exploitation, or neglect.

We serve every child referred to us by law enforcement or social services. It does not matter where they are from geographically. Most often referrals come from a large geographic area of Western North Dakota, Eastern Minnesota, and Northeastern South Dakota. We also serve tribes in North Dakota (Spirit Lake Indian Nation and the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribal Nation) and Minnesota (White Earth and Red Lake).
